First Permanent Church in
Brookville was built by Methodists 1820.
It was occupied by Methodists 1821-1839, Presbyterians
1839-1855, Lutherans 1855-1922, Baptists since 1953.
Many Brookville early settlers are buried in
this cemetery including four Revolutionary Soldiers and
a signer of Indiana’s first Constitution.

Purchased
by Mary Goodwin Buchanan and John F. Goodwin
direct descendents of Samuel Goodwin, the
“Father of Methodism” in Brookville and given by
them to the Brookville Library Board for preservation
and as a memorial to their Mother, Martha
Goodwin. Later this church
became the property of the Franklin County Historical Society.
