1770-1854 Arrived here in 1805 in company with Amos Butler. Land grant for 160 acres at this site – 1811. Acquired another 160 acres in July 1817. Large cabin stood just south of this cemetery. During his first year, he cleared 11 acres of virgin forest, single handed. He was the father of 25 children whose descendants live throughout Indiana. Buried – Rutland, Indiana.
