Located:                         Southwest of church building on High Street, Brookville, Indiana

Text and History:          First Catholic Church on this site 1845.  Present church erected 1867 and enlarged in 1902.  This was also site of first Catholic School in 1855.

                                      In the beginning, Brookville had 14 Catholic families but no church.  In 1845 a small brick building was purchased for $500 and became the first Catholic church in Brookville.  In 1850 an addition to the church grounds was purchased and 8 years later the present church was erected.  The original cost of the church was $10,000.
