Oak Forest
School

This
small school, built by the parish of St. Philomena, was always operated as a public
institution. More than fifty years ago, it
was closed and the pupils were transferred, chiefly to Brookville. Some of the students who attended here bore the
following family names: VONDERHEIDE, SCHULER, WHITE, WEBER, JONES, LANNING, KUNTZ, TEBBE, WILLIAM(S), and MUNCHEL. Mrs. Edna GOBLE BARBOUR, who taught in the school
system of Franklin County some thirty-five years, served a tour of duty at this location. The small community of Oak Forest is still served
by this sturdy brick building. CCD Classes
for the parish church are held here as well as dinners, social gatherings, and other
community activities.
