Gesell
School

Located
on Long Hollow Road, this strongly built brick building still stand and appears to be in
as good condition as when it served the pupils of the neighborhood. It is owned and utilized as a tool shed by Marvin
GESELL. A long time teacher here was Alma
GESELL. The GESELL family quite possible
produced more teachers than any other family in the state of Indiana. Among the student body over the years one finds
these family names: KLEMME, BOSSERT, WILSON, BARRETT, JUDD, EVANS, BECKMAN, WOLBER,
BOHLANDER, PRIFOGLE, and STUDT. Maribell
BECKMAN WILSON, the mother of the three WILSON brothers of Brookville High basketball fame
attended here.
Mike
BOSSERT, an educator, who later became county superintendent of schools, came from this
community. He attended Indiana State Normal
School and graduated from there in 1901. Later,
employed by the United States Government, he went to the newly freed Philippine Islands
and taught school there for a number of years.
