Cooksey
School

This
is a sturdily constructed building made of fieldstone and is situated on East Oaktree
Road. Long abandoned, it was named for a
family who lived nearby and who early on had contributed to the history of the county. One of its early members had been a Revolutionary
War veteran. The Study family attended this
school, as did several members of the KREMP family. One
of the latter, the late Walter KREMP, became a teacher and taught in various county
schools over a period of a couple of decades. One
of the teachers was Theo. DICKERSON, a member of the pioneer HANNA family and a well-known
collector of Indian artifacts. He was also a
well-known scientist specializing in the field of geology.
