Center District, Springfield Township

This little red brick school succumbed about 1922 to the consolidation movement that then prevailed in this township.  This building yet stands but a few hundred yards from the site of the Springfield Consolidated School, which replaced and absorbed it.  It is ironic that this ancient house of learning has survived while its replacement has yielded to the wrecker’s ball.
