You be the Historian!

As historians sift through photos and papers, looking for clues from the past, they sometimes have to do some detective work, analyzing the artifacts before them.

Below are two photographs of Stumps Resteurant (sic) 440 Main Street Brookville also known as "Yellow Front", it was said to be a "regular stopping place" for route drivers. This information is penciled in an annotation on the back of the photos, along with the identification of the man behind the counter as Fred Stumps. The photos are both labeled "about 1927" but upon careful examination of both photos, this can't be correct. Can you study the two photos and give some reasons why not?
